Music
feeds the soul…that’s what
Marsha would say when she’s
asked about the importance
of music in her life.
Starting at an early age
with choral music
performances, competing and
winning a voice scholarship
at the college level, Marsha
has always been a performer.
Born and raised in Atlanta,
Marsha got her start in the
local church, directing
church choirs and singing
with her family. Her
participation in local
pageants like Miss Atlanta
and Miss Black Atlanta
presented opportunities to
perform with notables like
The Freddie Cole Trio and
the Tommy Stewart Orchestra.
Her
next opportunity came after
answering an ad for a local
group, Eclipse, who were
major players on the cabaret
scene in Atlanta. This four
girl ensemble performed
cabaret, jazz, pop/rock, R&B
and gospel to thousands of
Atlantans on a weekly basis.
With Eclipse, Marsha
performed at the
Picolo-Spoletto Festival in
Charleston, South Carolina,
opened for The Letterman,
background vocals for Little
Anthony, performed at
magnificent corporate galas
and prestigious venues like
the Greenbriar Resort, West
Virginia and other resorts
along the East Coast and
Harvey’s Resort & Casino in
Lake Tahoe, on the West
Coast.
Working with this 4-girl
ensemble gave Marsha the
opportunity to work with
others on Atlanta cabaret
scene like Robert Ray, a
veteran Broadway and cabaret
performer. After working
with Ray, she became a
regular in several of his
corporate and theatrical
productions. Marsha was cast
as one of 3 vocal performers
for an extraordinary musical
review, “Johnny Mercer – Too
Marvelous for Words”, also
produced by Ray. Still
enjoying
success today, this
show continues to play
throughout Georgia and to
sold-out audiences at the
prestigious Spoleto-Festival
in Charleston, N.C.
Marsha’s invitation for a
one-woman show at the
Georgia Music Hall of Fame
in Macon, Georgia needless
to say was also a milestone
and the wave continued with
an arousing performance with
the Atlanta Lyric Theater’s
production of Jerry’s Girls
at the Robert Ferst Center
last February.
When it’s not cabaret or
theater – it’s jazz, blues,
classic R&B and gospel as
lead female singer for
Atlanta’s premier band,
Uptown Entertainment Band (UEB)
who you will find only at
Atlanta’s finest events and
corporate affairs.
